AGENDA ITEM 14b - Letter 1 LEGISLATIVE-CITIZEN COMMISSION ON MINNESOTA RESOURCES November 2, 2018 Attorney General Lori Swanson Attorney General’s Office 445 Minnesota Street, Suite 1100 St. Paul, MN 55101 Dear Attorney General Swanson, The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) is a 17-member entity responsible, among other things, for making recommendations to the legislature on spending from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF). Certain expenditures from the ENRTF are subject of a lawsuit for which notice was given to you by the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy on October 3, 2018. The LCCMR has requested an update on the status of the lawsuit to be presented at its next meeting on November 13, 2018. To assist me with this update, could you please provide me with answers to the following questions: 1. What is the status of the lawsuit? 2. What are the next steps in the process? 3. Are there any specific deadlines for these next steps? 4. Can you confirm the status of the bond sale related to the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund Appropriation Bonds authorized in M.L. 2018 Chapter 214 Article 6 and referenced in the lawsuit? If you will kindly reply to these questions by Friday, November 9, we will be sure to get your responses to our members in time for their meeting. Sincerely, Becca Nash Director
